If there’s one thing we all know and love about Lebanon, it’s the increasing production and consumption of cannabis. The illegal trade that has made a lot of people very, very, very rich, not to mention had adverse ramification on Lebanese society (it is a gateway drug after all).
That’s why the Lebanese equivalent of the DEA, headed by Col. Adel Mashmoushi, has been working tirelessly to stop the production.
But at 9 am today, the Office of Drug Control (ODC) was met with heavy gun fire as they tried to destroy the fields in eastern city of Baalbek. LBC reported heavy shelling as well, although thankfully no one was hurt.
This comes at an ill-opportune time for drug dealers since the demand for the “whacky tabbacky” skyrockets during Lebanon’s summer touristic season.
Long Live Liban!
