Beauty fights drugs: On top of the Naccache Bridge, above Dbayeh Highway, fashion took a high stand against drugs on September 28th. Nathaly’s Agency and Jeff Zalzali organized “Sky Fashion Show 2010″ under a motto of “Beauty fights drugs”; a show that aims to increase awareness on drug addiction in Lebanon in an attempt to fight what might ruin future generations. The show kicked off with a dance piece by the models dressed as angels and moving to the sultry voice of the opera singer Pavos. After that, models revealed the latest designs for Fall-Winter 2010-2011 collection by our proud Lebanese designer, Fadi Nahle that dazzled the audience.
Furthermore, at the end of the show, a dress auction took place and the starting bid was $8000, and reached as high as $10.000 due to the generous donation by Ms. Jane Nassar herself. The money went to Youth Against Drugs Association to build a new shelter with a 60-person capacity.
Despite the traffic controversy surrounding the fashion show 2 days before it was due, the event was a great success and its message against drugs was well received and appreciated.
The auction:
The revenues of the auction goes to drug addicted “Jeunesse contre la drogue”..
When people asked me why I haven’t prepared earlier for the auction I told them it must be a spontaneous and normal event, where visitors should enjoy the fashion show. We did not intend to have a specialized auction.
Jane Nassar actually, who attended the event, as well as understand our theme, bought the dress at $10.000 instead of $8.000. Most of the guests were well off, reason why I was very disappointed by their lack of motivation, especially that a lot of Lebanese did not participate. It was a big shock to me.
